Unique Adult Sports in Denver

Football is fun; but so is basketball and baseball and all the other mainstream sports we’ve played since back in Elementary days. Yes, they can be a blast time and again, but chances are that if you’re not absolutely in love with the sport you won’t want to play day in and day out. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to get out and try something new and Denver is one of the best places in the US where you can find a strange assortment of lesser known and newer sports to keep all ages entertained!

Bump Soccer

Have you ever tried playing soccer? Well have you tried it while wearing a massive bubble suit to charge at other players? Welcome to Bump Soccer, a new and exciting way to play soccer! Each game can accommodate up to 30 people and they have suits available for both adults and children, making it a great option for birthday parties.

Price:

Starting at $250 for up to 10 children for an hour and reaching all the way to a $950 three hour time slot for 30 adults, it can be a little expensive. However, if you’ve got other people chipping in then even the most expensive package becomes negligible (~$31 per player).

FootGolf

Denver Foot Golf

What is it?

Here’s another cool variant of golf that’s even more new than frisbee golf and it’s called FootGolf. Like the sport, it was based on you hit a ball down a field towards the correct hole, except you’re not going to be using any clubs or golf balls. Instead, you’ll be playing with just your legs and a soccer ball!

Price:

The price of Foot Golf all depends on which course you end up heading to, but you’ll generally be spending $15 per person walking. Most places will also allow you to rent a ball from them as well for an extra minor fee.

When?

Most courses you’ll find open at 6AM and end up closing around 8PM, giving you plenty of time regardless of whichever days you have free.

Where?

There are currently three courses in Denver to get your Foot Golf on:

  • Park Hill Golf Club – E 35th Ave.
  • Saddleback Golf Course – Frontier St.
  • Broadlands Golf Course – W 144th Ave

Cornhole

What is it?

If you’ve never played a game called cornhole then you’ve probably never spent any vacation time in the south. Cornhole is a game where you throw handheld, square shaped beanbags across an open area at a little hole in a board and is generally played in teams of two.

Price:

To join the Denver Cornhole League you’ll be looking at spending $40 for a seven-week event, but your first beer is free at each. If that doesn’t tell you something about the game, nothing will! If you’re not looking to enter a league and are just looking for something you can do at home, you can find boards for around $100 a pair – or you can make them yourself as another fun project.

When?

If you’ve got some boards, some beanbags and some light then you can play cornhole anytime you want!

Where?

If you’d like to see about joining up with the Denver Cornhole League they prefer if you call them or register directly from their website listed below – locations for events are all provided online as well.

Kegball

What is it?

What is this game called KegBall everyone seems to be raging about here lately? Think kickball, but you have to have a beer in your hand for it. That’s right, this highly social game is for anyone 21 and up who enjoys getting out and having a good kickball match without staying too sober.

Price:

For $65 a person you could join the Denver Kickball League for seven weeks of fun and drunken team camaraderie, or $40 for four weeks. The membership includes playing fees, a t-shirt, a discount at select bars and more fun than you’re ready to handle! If you don’t have a team then don’t worry, you can always sign up as a ‘free agent’ for team options, though the price stays the same.

When?

Registration for this incredibly fun game begins on March 1st at 9AM for Spring players and March 3rd for the Summertime.

Where?

Like with the Cornhole League they prefer you call or visit the website directly, where you’ll also find the many locations they use.

Price:

Prices are around $25-$45 depending on what time of the day you go or you can purchase the lifetime membership for a one time $5 charge (which includes free rentals).

Frisbee Golf

Denver Frisbee Golf

What is it?

If you’ve never imagined playing golf with a frisbee and a basket instead of a ball and a hole, you’ve probably never heard of Frisbee Golf. Played very similar to golf, you throw a specially designed frisbee towards a basket with chains. Most holes are counted as par 3’s, though it’s not strange to see par 4’s either. Some short courses even feature par 2’s!

Price:

Frisbee Golf can cost absolutely nothing to as much as you’re willing to spend. You can find stores with a wide variety of discs like at Phenix Disc Sports on 2, 7100 Broadway. Most brand new discs however generally cost $15-$25.

When?

The best thing about frisbee golf is that you can go and play any time of the day you’d like!

Where?

There are currently a few  courses in Denver, but here’s a few we suggest:

  • Paco – Lakewood Dry Gulf Park
  • Camenisch Park – Camenisch St.
  • Fehringer Ranch Disc Golf Course – S Nelson Way
  • Globeville – Globeville Landing Park
